Openings At Crowd DNA

We’re currently looking to fill three roles at Crowd DNA; two in our London office and one in Amsterdam...

Associate director (London)

We’re looking to recruit an associate director to join our qual, trends and innovation team, working from our Hoxton Square office on fabulously diverse and exciting projects for some of the biggest brands around. You will report in to our qual, trends and innovation director, helping them to manage and mentor the wider team, and to make sure we deliver high quality work that adheres to our company principles of better thinking, being agile and ensuring impact. Here’s what we’re looking for:

– You need to have the confidence and necessary experience to take the controls of large and sometimes complex projects

– And you’ll do so in a way that means you get the best out of the wider project team, ensuring we are collectively diligent and creative in equal measure

– Demonstrating experience of working on multi-market projects will be beneficial

– An interest in trends and the type of brands and challenges that Crowd DNA gets involved with (look around this website if you need more of an idea) is important, as is evidence of how you’ve met business challenges in the past

– We don’t necessarily expect you to have ticked off every one of the research methods we deploy at Crowd, but a broad swathe of experience in qual techniques (plus an appetite for innovation) is expected

– Being able to point to particular experience in comms, brand and product development work will be an asset

– Showing you can be creative with research and have the confidence to engage clients through exciting debrief approaches is a big plus point

– Moreover, we anticipate this role going to someone who fully appreciates – and indeed relishes the fact – that the world of ‘market research’ (we don’t much like that term…) is fast changing, and that factors such as strategic thinking, stakeholder engagement, storytelling and innovation are key to the future of this industry

Consultant/senior consultant (London)

Befitting the fact it’s in our qual, trends and innovation team, this role will suit someone with an enthusiasm for combining trends work with getting hands-on interacting (interviews, ethnography, online methods etc) with consumers – aka real life people! You’ll be working as part of a skilled and friendly team on ad hoc projects for seriously exciting brands in the media, tech, fashion, alcohol, entertainment and finance fields. There’s flexibility at the level we bring someone in for this one, but would assume you’re currently at around SRE level – either new to that level or well established but, importantly, really keen now to start taking on increased responsibility.

What we’re after:

– Track record of insight fieldwork (groups, interviews, ethnography, digital methods – we don’t necessarily expect you to have covered all of these, however)

– An aptitude for project and client management

– A tangible enthusiasm for presenting work, running workshops and for reaching bold conclusions that combine creativity and good commercial sense for our clients

– First rate writing skills (we expect you to be contributing to our blog and producing reports)

– Appetite for trends spotting and trends dissemination

– Hungry also to learn about and apply behavioural thinking and cultural strategy

Director (Amsterdam)

You might be based in Amsterdam already; you might be looking to make a move there – either way, this is a role for an experienced, industry-savvy individual who will relish the opportunity to head up our operation in this hub city of global brand and agency activity, working with existing clients, bringing in new ones, and generally striving to synch up how Crowd DNA Amsterdam works with our London office. The position will major on business development, project design, thought leadership and strategic thinking.

– We anticipate this role could go to someone currently working in either a planning or insight capacity, but most likely agency-side

– While we don’t anticipate fieldwork being a high priority in this role, an understanding of different research techniques (either from first hand experience or from exposure to research work) would be very helpful

– Demonstrating experience of working on multi-market projects will be beneficial, and the aptitude to tap in to the global opportunities that emerge via brands and agencies based in Amsterdam

– An interest in trends and the type of brands and challenges that Crowd DNA gets involved with (look around this website if you need more of an idea) is important, as is evidence of how you’ve met business challenges in the past

– While we don’t view this solely as a sales role, you must be the type of person who has an appetite for building relationships, understanding client needs, communicating what’s great about our agency and, ultimately, winning top notch work

All roles comes with a competitive salary and benefits, plus clear paths to new opportunities. It’s an entrepreneurial and energised environment, fast paced and collaborative. If you fancy working in a place where setting the agenda for the future of insight and innovation is coded into the culture, please do get in touch, providing a covering letter and CV in the first instance.

New Roles At Crowd DNA

Roll up - we're on the look out for a consultant/senior consultant-level hire for our Quant & Analytics team and an exec for our Qual, Trends & Innovation team...

CONSULTANT/SENIOR CONSULTANT – QUANT & ANALYTICS

A recent promotion means an exciting opportunity has opened up for an enthusiastic and confident researcher to join our quant and analytics team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the day to day running of a key account, developing a good relationship with the client, understanding their business and ensuring findings are turned into strategically relevant insights.

Alongside this, you’ll support the senior team on a wide range of ad hoc projects for some of the coolest brands on planet earth. We’re looking for someone with a good understanding of quantitative methodologies, the ability to apply a broad range of techniques and some creativity to the process.

The ideal candidate will have four plus year’s experience (think high end SRE through to mid level RM) and be able to manage and execute projects successfully from kick off to completion, including presenting with confidence. We’re looking for someone with an inquisitive and analytical mind, who loves to turn data into compelling stories. An enthusiasm for thinking beyond the obvious, towards new ways to collect and share data will be well received.

You’ll need to be highly organised, with excellent attention to detail and the ability to work under pressure. We want someone who’s positive, keen to develop, and who can operate with equal ease as part of a team or working autonomously.

EXEC – QUAL, TRENDS & INNOVATION

This is a starter level role in our qual, trends and innovation team – though we certainly anticipate you’ll be able to point to some degree of experience in insight, strategy or similar, in a work placement capacity of something comparable. And yep, the same applies as above with the quant role re: the coolest brands going and a thorough focus on creativity.

You’ll need to be industrious, very much up for problem-solving, trends-aware and, as you develop, not afraid to challenge our clients with bold insights and even bolder recommendations. Communication skills are key in all of this, too – dynamic story telling, crisp writing and a good sense for all things visual (including working alongside our design and film experts).

In the nearer term, we need someone who’s going to get as involved as possible, learning quickly and making themselves super useful! In return, we promise you’ll get excellent experience and pick up a great range of skills in extra speedy time.

Located in our Hoxton Square London office, both roles come with competitive salaries and other benefits; and clear paths to promotion and to new opportunities. It’s an entrepreneurial and energised environment, fast paced and collaborative. If you fancy working in a place where setting the agenda for the future of insight and innovation is coded into the culture, please do get in touch. andy@crowdDNA.com

Restructuring at Crowd DNA means we’re on the look-out for two experienced, dynamic, creative, commercially minded people to join our London team in super important director roles...

Director (quant, data science)

The role will have you leading Crowd DNA’s quant and data science team, taking the helm on major projects alongside providing guidance for others, ensuring best practice, and playing an important role in how we design projects and pitch for work. Also, you’ll collaborate with Crowd DNA’s managing director on role development and the growth of the quant team. It goes without saying that you will comfortably know your way around a range of quantitative research techniques, getting beyond route one solutions. Moreover, you will be passionate about exploring how quant can best connect with trends and qual work; new ways to inspire clients and inventive means of sharing findings. You’ll have ideas for innovations in how we collect data, plus integrate multiple sources of it. This role requires someone who is most happy when leading a team (and we have a great team!), rather than working head-down, on their own.

Director (qual, trends, innovation)

This is the parallel of the above quant director role; thus you’ll be heading up our qual, trends and innovation team, and much the same focus on leadership, creativity, commercial nous and inventiveness is key. We want someone who inspires confidence internally at Crowd DNA and externally among our impressive list of clients. An appetite for multi market work, bringing cultural understanding into play and new methods/analysis frameworks are all good things; as, alongside a strong qual skill set, is an appreciation for how to deploy trends in a commercial context and use innovation techniques.

Essential in both roles:

– Leading the respective team; overseeing the quality of all work; being Crowd DNA’s senior point of view on qual/quant

– Ability to expertly balance taking a lead on major projects with the line management of others

– First rate client management skills, at all points from project design to inspiring confidence in the findings and recommendations

– Working with our business and strategy team to ensure smart and exciting responses to pitches

– Managing role development, mentoring and growth of the team

– Collaborating as part of the senior team on broader company strategy and providing thought leadership

– Driving innovation at all points from project design and methodologies to deliverables

Next to the specific requirements for each role mapped out above, we’re seeking people who are a great cultural fit with Crowd DNA – resourceful, entrepreneurial, industrious, open to new ways to work, passionate about inspiring others – and who are suited to also playing a role in shaping the overall direction for how the agency grows from here, pushing the parameters beyond standard ‘market research’ convention.

Both roles offer competitive salaries/packages and the scope to do great work with ace people for awesome clients. To apply, please send a CV with covering email to andy@crowdDNA.com

Cultural insights and innovation agency Crowd DNA is searching for a trends and insight consultant/senior consultant to join our London team...

Based in Hoxton Square, you’ll get to work on exciting and challenging projects for brands such as Channel 4, Red Bull, Twitter, Sony Music and Peroni, joining a highly skilled and creative team of entrepreneurially minded folk who are keen to forge new ways of working in the insight and innovation field. The role will suit someone with an enthusiasm for combining trends work with getting hands-on interacting (interviews, ethnography, online methods etc) with consumers – aka real life people!

What we’re looking for:

– First rate writing skills and a strong editorial style (we expect you to be contributing to our blog, producing reports and writing for trade media)

– Experience of trends spotting and trends dissemination (from reporting writing to workshops)

– Track record of insight fieldwork (groups, interviews, ethnography, digital methods – we don’t necessarily expect you to have covered all of these, however)

– An aptitude for project management

– A tangible enthusiasm for presenting work, running workshops and for reaching bold conclusions that combine creativity and good commercial sense for our clients

We’re interested in seeing people at different levels of seniority (hence advertising for a consultant or senior consultant), with this having some impact on the specifics of the role. But at either level, we can promise a competitive salary, the opportunity to work on adventurous, future facing briefs in the UK and overseas, to learn loads from collaborating with an extremely gifted team and to have good opportunities to advance in this fast growing business.

To discuss further, please contact Andy Crysell with a CV and an example of your writing.

We’re On The Move

It's never easy leaving somewhere as iconic as the Tea Building, but it helps when you're moving to a nice new space just up the road in Hoxton Square - one which gives us bags more room and will allow us to try out a few new things in-house...

We’ll be able to run workshop events and viewed groups in our own space. And, at last, we’ll be able to swing a cat in the kitchen area. Of course, it will look a lot better with stuff like people and desks in it, but if pics of empty office spaces are your thing, here goes…

We look onto the square
We look onto the square

And if you turn around it looks like this
And if you turn around it looks like this

New Hires & Promotions

Here's some new people to introduce. And some 'old people' in new roles...

It’s been a busy time for changes at Crowd DNA, with a mix of new recruits and promotions. Here’s the low-down.

Laura Warby joins us as a senior consultant from Tonic. She’s launched straight into work for Channel 4 and Sony Music.

Milly Derbyshire, meanwhile, has come on board as a consultant. Previously at Added Value, she’s getting busy on our Peroni Agenda account, plus providing jolly good thinking around semiotics and culture codes for a new piece we’re pitching for

Sarah Brierley has been promoted to business and strategy director, taking a lead on all things from client relations and project design, to developing new IP and, obviously, communicating just how utterly ace an agency we are

Will Moxham joins Sarah on the commercial side of things, making the switch from exec to client services consultant

Aurelie Jamard has been promoted to associate director, heading up our innovation lab – via which we make our Crowd In and Crowd Out approaches available to clients

That’s it for now, but several more new recruits on the horizon. Time for a bigger office – and we’re working on that, too.
