Evan joins Crowd DNA after several years of lakeside living and doctoral studies in Switzerland. A child of the internet, he is drawn to the relationship between digital technologies, emergent subcultures and fluid identity. This passion fuels his adventures down rabbit holes of meme genealogies, online community rituals, and the modern media’s attention economy. These interests are supported by a decade’s experience in qualitative research, with is work spanning a range of fields, including community development, placemaking, data politics, and consumptive anthropology. Freelancing in South Africa honed his approach as a strategist – connecting grassroots ‘iKasi’ voices to international brands such as Red Bull and Jack Daniels. If he isn’t skateboarding around Amsterdam’s canals with trepidation, Evan can be found sketching Showa-era shopfront architecture, debating the finer points of early 90s console wars on Reddit, or teaching conversational English to JPop idols.
