Senior Consultant (Futures, Semiotics & Listening)
A Dutch(-Surinamese) native, but one who’s lived everywhere from Melbourne to São Paulo, Laura has been in London since completing her MSc in social anthropology at the University Of Oxford. Since her studies (wherein she also perfected the art of ethnography), she’s been working in the world of semiotics, strategy, innovation and design research for companies like Heineken, Flamingo, The Future Laboratory and Space Doctors. With interests ranging from the politics of Che Guevara imagery to African-American hip-hop culture in Japan, Laura now works on the intersection of culture and brands, decoding meaning that is often hidden in plain sight. Making sense of complexity is where she feels most comfortable, but when that’s done and dusted, she can be found salsa dancing in Brixton, reading about sustainable design or submerging herself in a healthy dose of pop culture.
